Curt “Mot Wakorb” LeCaptain became interested in doing radio in his college days and with the help of Javier, Ryan, Cesar (retired), and Casey (retired) got the F.U.D.Cast off the ground. Thanks to his gaming days, starting with four different Atari 2600 consoles (three of which fried themselves), moving up through the NES and SNES days, until 3D gaming hit – in which he had traded his SNES and two dozen games for a single Playstation and Battle Arena Toshinden 2. Since he had gotten steady full-time IT work, he’s had every console released in the last few generations and never regretted that decision.
When he’s not gaming, he’s working in the I.T. field, providing consulting services on multiple platforms, including Windows, Linux, VMware, Cisco, and HP networking. He also teaches part-time at a local technical school and is working on completing his bachelor’s degree.
Curt’s favorite gaming these days resides in games that can be easily jumped into. Games such as Final Fantasy 13 have turned him off to the long-introduction games that can take entirely too long to get the player into the game. Time has become a precious commodity these days, and as far as he’s concerned, he doesn’t have any time to waste in gaming – it should be fun, but shouldn’t take forever to be able to enjoy the game, nor truly learn how to play.
Curt can also be caught writing the occasional Moving Target review on Colony of Gamers and does the iPod/iPhone gaming news. Football is his other passion, having grown up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, there is only one team for him – the Green Bay Packers.
Javier “violent” Perez
Co-Founder of the F.U.D.cast. The true PC elitist. PC gaming since the early 80′s back when the music sucked and you could still enjoy a smoke with your cup of coffee in a restaurant. A product of Leisure Suit Larry, King’s Quest, Space Quest and Quest for Glory, he can make a thong out of dental floss and a sunglasses cloth and trade it for a boot in which to fling at a cat chasing a mouse.
He finagled his way through the cracks of corporate America to land himself IT jobs with companies like Florida Power & Light, UPS and Nascar. All feeding his need to upgrade and build an arsenal in which to attack his lesser console brethren. Building PC’s to challenge the next big thing, his finger is on the pulse of PC hardware and the games that will put them to the test. The lovechild of Doom and Quake, he knows no love in his heart.
Not one to ridicule his lessers blindly, he owned just about every console release since the 2600 days where he learned that gaming could be a hobby, not just a channel into delusions of grandeur. An admitted whore of all things Final Fantasy, he also enjoys all things Metal Gear, God of War and Silent Hill.
He prefers a fine chianti during his recording and once got engaged but called it off when he learned he couldn’t upgrade her RAM.
Ryan “UWCrash” Kern
Ryan has been gaming since before the age of three, starting with classics such as “Baseball” and “Las Vegas Black Jack & Poker” on the Intellivision. His first true console was the NES, brought home when he was five with Goonies II and the standard SMB/Duck Hunt combo, and a couple years later his family got their first computer, an Apple IIC, along with the Bard’s Tale. Growing up he primarily played RPGs and action/adventure titles, but one of his favorite games to-date is System Shock 2.
Around 2002 Ryan tried what would be his first MMO: Puzzle Pirates. While his interest in it didn’t last for long, it did open the door to trying Final Fantasy XI. After years of playing, he and Curt finally endured the grind to level 75, but it the mean time Ryan picked up world of Warcraft and has been raiding on and off since Molten Core. He currently plays a Tauren Druid on the US-Mal’ganis realm, and probably has more ilvl 277 gear than you do.
Ryan currently lives and works in the Portland, OR area, running performance numbers for a microprocessor manufacturing company. When not playing WoW he primarily games on the PC and 360, and also plays D&D 4th Ed. and Savage Worlds (another PnP RPG) bi-weekly. He prefers co-op to other multiplayer modes, but if forced to play adversarially he insists that Shadowrun is far superior to Team Fortress 2.
Jeremy “Ghostbear” Spurlock
Jeremy has been gaming since his parents picked up an old Commodore 64. They got an NES a few years later and he has fond memories of games like Castlevania and Final Fantasy. Those systems were great but he didn’t really become a gamer until the family got a PC years later and he was exposed to games like Wing Commander and Quest For Glory 2: Trial By Fire. Those years on the PC were some of his fondest, playing through all the King’s Quest, Warcraft, and Dune games will stick with him forever. Some of his favorite games include the Homeworld, Half Life, Baldur’s Gate and Fallout Series. His favorite genres mirror those games.
He is primarily a PC gamer, but in more recent years he has really come to appreciate console gaming. There are treasures in both places and he looks forward to seeing what’s in store for us across all gaming platforms.
Jeremy is also a huge comic book, tabletop gaming and book nerd.
Jeremy also is the host of The Comics Archive, a bi-weekly podcast about comic books, check it out at www.thecomicsarchive.com.
Andrew “TrackZero” Hodder lives and works in Toronto doing a number of IT Ninja related tasks. Andrew has been gaming since he was four years old on his Commodore VIC-20, with his father manually typing out every game to run since there was no storage on the system. Followed shortly thereafter with his introduction to consoles from his cousins hand me down Vectrex system. As the years went by, he played on numerous consoles and computer builds as well as spending a small fortune at the arcade with every quarter he could find. Most of his gaming youth was spent playing through Sierra adventure games, RPGs and any sidescroller he could get his hands on.
Through the years he found himself outpacing any local gamers he encountered. However with the magic of the internet, competitive gaming once again took its hold. His self-proclaimed best match was beating Thresh in Quake mere days after he had won John Carmacks Ferrari. He also held the XBLA Peggle top score for stage 1-1 for two months. He also likes boasting about things like that.
In addition to video games, Andrew studies the classic geek hobbies of movies, PnP RPGs and comics. Followed by a love for road hockey and documentaries. He also hates quoting famous people.
